Call for Plays in Translation
Translators are invited to submit plays translated into English from another language. The translator of the winning translation will receive a small cash prize and the play will be presented as an in-person staged reading performed at the Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre in Tucson on November 4, 2022. Translators are invited to submit a translation of a complete play of no more than 100 pages with the original (Both short and long plays welcome!); a brief query letter including confirmation of permission to translate the piece and permission to perform the translated version of the piece as a staged reading; short bios of both author and translator; and a note as to whether the translator would be available to attend the performance, should their work be selected. For more information, see the Call for Plays on Scoundrel & Scamp's website. The deadline to submit is July 25.

Work Exchange Program
ALTA's annual programming would not be possible without the hard work of volunteers to ensure that events run smoothly and to guarantee the best time for all attendees. If you are interested in volunteering at ALTA45 in exchange for complimentary registration, apply for the ALTA45 work exchange program by July 25.

Wayfinders
Are you attending ALTA's virtual programming for the first time this year? Or are you a seasoned expert of punctuation panels, riveting readings, and dynamic Declamación? If you are looking for an "in" to this year's programming, or if you want to be someone else's, the Wayfinders program is for you. Our community is growing, and as we see attendance increase, we know you want ALTA45 to be as warm, welcoming, and intimate an experience as we do. Our goal is to pair up translators joining ALTA programming for the first time with those who know it best.

In 2022, there are not one, but TWO different opportunities to meet with a Wayfinder or Wayfindee! The first is during the virtual July Bilingual Reading on July 26 at 5pm Pacific Time (sign up deadline: June 30), and the second is during the virtual September Bilingual Reading on September 27 at 5pm Pacific Time (sign up deadline: August 31). Click here to read more and to sign up!

Declamación
Mark your calendars to join your fellow translators, declaimers, and enthusiasts on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 for our annual evening of Declamación…the second virtual installment! You must recite (or sing) from memory (no reading). Time allotment is 5 minutes. Sign up to recite using this form by October 24!

Participate in the ALTA45 Virtual Bookfair
The ALTA Bookfair is always a celebration of the work of our community. During our 2022 programming, ALTA is using Bookshop.org to highlight member translations and the titles published by translation presses. Click here to request a book be added to the ALTA45 Bookfair list on Bookshop.org! We will monitor this form every other week, and add titles to the Bookshop.org list as they come through. The sooner you submit your title, the longer it will be featured as part of our bookfair! Deadline: November 7.
