Call for Proposals

ALTA48: Visions and Versions will take place November 5-8, 2025 in Tucson, Arizona.

The ALTA48 theme, “Visions and Versions,” looks at translation as a field of endless possibilities, where visions take shape and versions emerge, adapt, and transform. With every act of translation, we encounter multiple ways of seeing and interpreting the world, inviting us to reflect on what “vision” and “version” mean in the literary translation community and beyond.

Proposals exploring these interconnected ideas will be accepted for two different kinds of sessions: 5-person panels and workshops organized by 1 or 2 workshop leaders (and open to participation from any conference attendees). Submitters are encouraged to read the ALTA48 proposal guidelines and familiarize themselves with past conferences before developing their proposals.

Submissions will be accepted through June 16 and decisions will be sent out in mid-July, 2025.
