Declamación

Mark your calendars to join your fellow translators, declaimers, and enthusiasts for our annual evening of Declamación at ALTA49! You must recite (or sing) from memory (no reading). Time allotment is up to 5 minutes. Sign up to recite using the form at the link below!

Declamación will take place at our conference hotel in Portland in 2026. We will begin with those who sign up in advance, and then, time permitting, an open mic will follow.

THE RULES: you must recite (or sing) from memory (no reading). You may recite English translations (your own or someone else’s) and/or original poems or prose in other languages, but nothing written originally in English, or your own original work (after all, this is a translation conference).

DEADLINE to sign up in advance: October 7, 11:59pm Pacific Time

Please send questions to Kelsi Vanada at kelsi@literarytranslators.org.
