2026 Joseph Tusiani Italian Translation Prize

We are very proud to have created this Prize in honor of Joseph  Tusiani, a poet in his own right whose work as a translator stands  as a monument that few can ever hope to match.

I hereby announce that the fourth edition of the Joseph Tusiani  Italian Translation Prize is accepting submissions for books published in 2026. The deadline for submission of the texts is December  31, 2026. Please take note of the following important information:

1. For the fourth edition of the Tusiani Prize we have concluded that the judging will be done more efficiently by restricting submissions to translations of poetry only. Joseph Tusiani translated only poetry, so it makes sense to have the Prize created in his name to reflect his specialty.
2. The monetary award for the winner is $1,000.00.
3. The works submitted must have been published in 2026.
4. We require PDF copies of the original and of the published translation. Please send the files to Gaetano Cipolla to the following e-mail addresses: Legasbooks2021@outlook.com or gcipolla@ optonline.net.

We expect that the Judging Committee will complete its evaluation of the entries and announce the winner in the Spring of 2027.  The date for the the presentation of the Prize will be announced  once the winner has been will be selected.
