Lux Magazine

Lux (opens in new tab), a feminist magazine, in collaboration with the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung – New York Office, is seeking pitches from translators for a special project focused on feminism in the Global South. We are open to translation from any language. The text must be article-length (about 1500-4500 words) and by a living author. We are interested in texts that have had an impact on feminist thinking in their country or language of origin and would be of interest to an English language audience already well-versed in basic feminist concepts.

We know that there is a wealth of important feminist thought not yet available to readers in English and are hoping to identify some of this work. We are completely open to writers who do not explicitly identify as feminists as long as they are concerned with questions of gender. We welcome work about queer politics. We are a trans-inclusive publication.

In your pitch, please describe the piece being proposed for translation, its significance, its style, and whatever you know about its copyright status.

We pay $.23/translated word. Should the pitch be accepted, the deadline for drafts would be October 1.
