Publishing 101 for Translators: Led by Elianna Kan

This two-session workshop will be an overview of the publishing industry catered to common queries that arise around work in translation. We’ll discuss every step of the process from clearing translation rights with the rights holder—and understanding what that even means—to pitching your project to editors—who and where might be the best fit—and finally, to the dreaded contract negotiations. This is intended as an open forum for all questions and also a workshop of query letters for those who choose to volunteer to be workshopped. Participants will also walk away with a handle of what resources might be available to them as they navigate next steps in the publishing process.
