yolk

yolk is a Montreal-based, English-language literary journal that publishes the best new Canadian and international writing, whether from emerging or established voices.

This spring, we are inaugurating a translation feature on yolk’s digital platform. This means that from now on, we will consistently be publishing high quality translations of French works into English alongside works of English-language fiction, poetry, and nonfiction.

Here are the details:

Our Submittable is open for our Spring 2026 digital feature from March 2 – May 31, 2026, during which time translated texts may be submitted to yolk. Going forward, yolk will continue to accept translations each time our digital platform is open.
Texts must be translated from French into English to be eligible.
The translator must have the approval of the original author of the translated text. Both author and translator will be compensated according to yolk’s standard rates ($100CAD honorarium for the digital publication of a text).
yolk must be the first venue for the English-language publication of the submitted text.

yolk is thrilled to create a new venue for the appreciation of translated work and to showcase the brilliant work of translators before local, national, and international audiences. We invite translators at all stages of their careers to submit and spread the word.
