Founded in 1987 in Austin, Texas HOST Publications is a press dedicated to bringing readers the best in international literature and the most exciting writing from the United States. Since its inception, HOST has published works from countries as diverse as Brazil, Chile, Poland, Belgium, Turkey and the United States. From Nobel Prize winners Pablo Neruda and Wisława Szymborska to renowned Texas writers Dave Oliphant and Christopher Cook, HOST Publications presents writers who should be more widely known than they are. Tia Chucha Press is one of the country’s leading small cross-cultural presses for poetry, focused on socially engaged poetry work and literature that matters. Tia Chucha Press began in 1989 with the publication of Luis J. Rodriguez’s first book, the 13-poem collection “Poems Across the Pavement,” designed by Jane Brunette of Menominee/German/French descent, who has remained as TCP designer ever since. Unicorn Press was founded in 1966 in Santa Barbara, CA, and in 1972, it moved to Greensboro, NC. By then, it was the sole responsibility of Al Brilliant, one of the three founders. Al was fortunate to have the cooperation and partnership of his spouse, the poet, novelist, and translator, Teo Savory (1907- 1989), who became Editor of the press while Al handled production and administration. During its first 46 years, Al has had the comradeship of forty young men and women who have joined in full-time, for two years or longer.

Ars Libri maintains the largest stock in America of rare and out-of-print books on art. Founded in 1976, it has an international reputation as a source for scholars, collectors, artists, and everyone else with an interest in the visual arts.

The Pushcart Prize Fellowships is the endowment for The Pushcart Prize, and appreciates contributions in all amount.

The Toad Press International Chapbook Series publishes contemporary, exciting, beautiful, odd, and avant-garde chapbook-length translations of poetry and prose.

The main aim of Swedish Book Review is to present Swedish literature to the English-speaking world. It carries translated extracts from the works of Swedish writers, a variety of articles and a wide range of reviews. SBR features not only established writers but also new or lesser-known ones and also includes the literature of Swedish-speaking Finland.
SBR’s coverage ranges well beyond popular genre fiction to include literary fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama and literature for children and young adults. Its seasoned pool of reviewers is a reliable resource for all those seeking information about new books from Sweden.
SBR is editorially independent, but gratefully acknowledges funding from the Swedish Arts Council.

Exchanges began in 1989–90, as a project of the Iowa Translation Workshop when I was director. The first issue was cyclostyled, the title being copied from Ulalume González de León’s short story “Intercambios,” translated by Stephanie Lovelady, a student in the Workshop. All texts were presented bilingually. The idea was a simple one: to provide a focus, giving workshop members a sense of working towards publication. Iowa, with its unique combination of Creative Writing Program, Literary Translation Program, and International Writing Program, seemed the ideal location for such a project. As editor of Modern Poetry in Translation, which with Ted Hughes I had founded in England, in 1965, I tended to see mall things in terms of magazine publication allway!--Daniel Weissbort

Salamander, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit literary organization that publishes a biannual magazine of poetry, fiction, memoir, and works in translation. It was founded by Jennifer Barber in 1992 with the aim of publishing a generation of writers reaching artistic maturity and deserving of a wider audience alongside new work by established writers. In addition to the magazine, Salamander, Inc. sponsors events and readings in the Boston area and in New York. Salamander became affiliated with Suffolk University in the fall of 2005. Its annual fiction contest began in 2010.

The Driftless Review is published by Platteville Poets, Writers and Editors, LLC, an organization dedicated to showcasing the works of emerging and established writers whose creative journeys have in some way brought them through the Driftless Region: the distinctive landscape of rolling hills and river valleys which join southwest Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota, and northeast Iowa. While we do showcase local writers, we accept submissions from allone.

In mid-2002, a group of language professionals living in Japan began to discuss the need for a new kind of publisher—one that could serve readers in English and Japanese, with titles meant for both general and specialist markets. Reflecting the skills and interests of its founding directors, Kurodahan Press first offered books relating to Japan, but has since expanded the range of titles to include China, Korea, and beyond.

Portland Review has been publishing exceptional local and international writing and art since 1956. The journal is produced by the graduate students in Portland State University’s creative writing, publishing, and English programs.

Southern Humanities Review publishes fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Translations in all genres have also appeared in the journal. The journal recently established the Auburn Witness Poetry Prize Honoring Jake Adam York, poet and Auburn University alum. $1,000 and publication in SHR will be awarded annually to one poem of witness by an American poet. Axolotl derives its name both from the small, aquatic salamander indigenous to Lake Xochimilco in México, and from Julio Cortázar’s short story of the same title. We love straddling languages and straddling locations; love magical realism, slipstream, and fabulism; love fiction, poetry, non-fiction, comics, lists, drama, sequential and non-sequential art, statues, trees, microfiction and prose poems.

Scripta Humanistica (R) is the sequel to the literary series Studia Humanitatis (R), founded by Professor Bruno Damiani, of the Catholic University of America in 1973. Scripta Humanistica continues the commitment to excellence established by Studia Humanitatis, a commitment ensured by the ongoing service of distinguished Advisory Board members, who, along with several other experts, have assisted in the editorial process to produce outstanding scholarly works.

Lanternfish Press was founded in 2013 to produce beautiful, reader-friendly books: volumes that will be cherished, schlepped on the subway, and generally devoured. We launched our first title, The Legend of Sherlock Holmes, through a Kickstarter campaign early in 2014. It's a collection of Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories, newly arranged and illustrated.

In the USA, Ivy Press aspires to build a bridge between the two cultures. Bulgaria is usually mentioned in the press with uncomplimentary associations. Through poetry, the "soul of a nation", we hope that American readers can become better acquainted with this ancient nation.

Holy Cow! Press was founded in 1977 by editor/publisher Jim Perlman in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our first publication was a chapbook of poems by Thomas McGrath to his son entitled LETTERS TO TOMASITO. In the ensuing 25 years, we have published over 70 titles and have moved the press operations to Iowa and Wisconsin, before returning to Minnesota (Duluth) in 1988.

The Library of Arabic Literature series offers Arabic editions and English translations of significant works of Arabic literature, with an emphasis on the seventh to nineteenth centuries. The Library of Arabic Literature thus includes texts from the pre-Islamic era to the cusp of the modern period, and encompasses a wide range of genres, including poetry, poetics, fiction, religion, philosophy, law, science, history, and historiography. Books in the series are edited and translated by internationally recognized scholars and are published in parallel-text format with Arabic and English on facing pages, and are also made available as English-only paperbacks.

Anvil Press, founded in 1968, is based in Greenwich, south-east London, in a building off Royal Hill that has been used at various points in its 150-year history as a dance-hall and a printing works. Anvil grew out of a poetry magazine which Peter Jay ran as a student in Oxford and retains its small compall ethos. At present it has no staff other than Peter Jay, its founder, editorial and production director.

Burning Deck began in 1961 as a little magazine. In 1961, poets were supposed to be in opposing camps, often inelegantly—and inaccurately—labeled 'academics' and 'beats'. The two most widely noted anthologies of the time (Donald Allen's The New American Poetry and what was known as "The Hall-Pack-Simpson"), both representing the period 1945-1960, do not contain a single poet in common. Burning Deck Magazine disregarded this split and presented a spread of poets wide enough that occasionally an author complained of being published in such unprogrammatic compall. Though advertised as a 'quinterly', the magazine, after only four issues, gave way to a series of chapbooks and—later, in part with the help of NEA grants—books of poetry and occasionally of short fiction. In 1984, Burning Deck merged with allART: Contemporary Arts Center, becoming the literature program of this non-profit organization. In 1992, we added a translation series (Série d'Ecriture: current French writing in English translation), in 1994 a second one (Dichten=: current German-language writing in English translation).
