co•im•press co•im•press (collaborative—cooperative—immediate) is a nonprofit literary micropress that publishes strange, transgressive, or “unpublishable” poetry, prose, and translations by unsung or under-sung authors and translators. We seek texts that meet the needs of an audience craving a precise combination of formal and linguistic rigor mixed with emotional complexity and dis-ease. The press obsesses over the visceral-mystical, a poetics in which authors explore the body's inherent excesses, strangenesses, pains, vices, traumas, possessions, leakings, effusions, preoccupations, losses, urges, and failings in the pursuit of hard-won discoveries and wisdom.
co•im•press has an unabashed favoritism toward underrepresented writers working in Chicago and the Midwest. It is Chicagoist.
co•im•presss seeks to keep its authors’ works available using emergent, state-of-the-art, and sustainable technologies.
co•im•press is dedicated to working with authors and translators who want to learn about the publishing process; are interested in collaborating on innovative fundraising, networking, and production solutions; and are eager to brainstorm ideas for marketing and promoting their own work through reading tours, events, word of mouth, grassroots initiatives, and ingenious publicity stunts.
co•im•press recognizes the following presses and journals, among others, as allies sharing in the micropress mission: Action Books, Anomalous Press, Birds LLC, Birds of Lace, Black Ocean, Bloof Books, dancing girl press, Entropy, Fence Books, Les Figues, Noemi Press, Octopus Books, [PANK]/Tiny Hardcore Press, PARAGRAPHITI, Radioactive Moat, smoking glue gun, Spork Press, Switchback Books, TENDE RLOIN, Ugly Duckling Presse. Shambhala Publications Shambhala Publications was born at Ground Zero of the 1960s counterculture: in the back of a bookstore on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, California. It's ironic, since our founders' vision was more trans-cultural than countercultural--the concern being for an enlightened approach to every aspect of life--including culture. It's a vision that hasn't changed in more than four decades, as we've crossed the continent, and as we've grown to discover just how much that original vision can contain.

Publishing ten titles in translation each year and running an online literary website called Three Percent, Open Letter searches for works that are extraordinary and influential, works that we hope will become the classics of tomorrow.

Pleasure Boat Studio: a Literary Press PLEASURE BOAT STUDIO: A LITERARY PRESS has a simple and straightforward philosophy: We want to publish the best books we can find - fiction, poetry, and non-fiction - books that we love and that fit our interests. We don’t do children’s books or hard-core pornography or wild science fiction. Not likely to do one of those political or legal thrillers, either. But we really do try to keep an open mind. We like quirky books and non-traditional books and unusual books. And we really like authors who will WORK to sell their books

To this end, we actively support Tibetan-language publications and other publications that document contemporary and traditional Tibetan cultural practices to ensure their long-term survival. From folk stories, and poetry, to text books, journals, and children books, publications supported by Trace Foundation have enriched Tibetan literature, strengthened Tibetan-language education, and preserved significant portions of Tibet’s incredible literary heritage.

Dialogos / Lavender Ink Lavender Ink was founded in 1995 in New Orleans by Bill Lavender, who is still the Director and Editor in Chief. The Press is a sole-proprietorship, not a 501-C3 nor all other type of corporation, and is funded solely by revenues from book sales and some small grants and funding initiatives for individual books. Prior to 2012 Lavender Ink published only poetry, but is now publishing fiction, nonfiction and other genres, also. Diálogos is an imprint of Lavender Ink devoted to literatures which have cross-cultural significance, primarily but not exclusively literature in translation. Although there is no formal editorial board, submissions are peer-reviewed via a large network of poets, writers and scholars around the nation. Mall of the authors and translators in our current list peer-review new submissions, and though the list of those who have helped out in the past is long, we single out Peter Thompson, professor of romance languages at Roger Williams University, longtime friend and supporter of the press, whose advice on matters of translation and world literature we cannot do without. It was out of conversations with Peter that Diálogos was born.
