Song Bridge Project

Song Bridge Project

The Song Bridge Project is dedicated to discovering, publishing, and promoting the best English language translations of important, contemporary poetry, prose, creative nonfiction, alternative genre, and book art. Our mission focuses on providing greater access to a range of literature through translation, while complementing existing journals of world literature and literary translation. We publish English translations of world literature from all languages, though our tradition has been and emphasis remains on English translations of Spanish language origin.

We are committed to a collaborative translation process, and work closely with emerging and established authors, translators, and visual artists to ensure the aesthetic integrity of each publication. Our poetry books are bilingual, featuring an en face format when appropriate, allowing our readers to experience the poetics of both languages.

Calls for Submissions:

Song Bridge Press welcomes submissions from all traditions in the Spanish-speaking world, respecting variations in time, place, and milieu. Our emphasis is on quality, both of the original poetry and the translations. We pride ourselves on our collaborative editorial environment, and welcome the contributions of our authors and translators to the process. We accept submissions of previously unpublished books of Spanish-language poetry. Submissions must include both the original Spanish language version, as well as the English translation. When considering our press for submission, please recall that we are inclined to nurture emerging poets and translators. Therefore, we discourage submissions of re-translations or previously published translated works, unless the submission is of unusual scholarly or literary merit. To submit, please send an email to songbridgepress@gmail.com, with the following items: *A cover letter between 500 and 800 words, indicating the name of the poet, the name of the translator, the biographical information of both, a description of the work which positions it within Spanish-language literary traditions, and, finally, a section that addresses the relevance and importance of the work. *Approximately twenty pages of representative text. *Documents must be in Microsoft Word format. *Please name the attachments: Last Name Cover Letter, Last Name Sample (ex. García Cover Letter) *Please allow six weeks for an editorial response.
