Registration for ALTA43: In Between is open! Registration rates look different this year: we’ve set our base registration at an at-cost price of $100, and introduced tiered pay-what-you-can options.

If you register at the $125 or $200 levels, you’ll be able to sign up for one online translation workshop and two pitch sessions. Learn more about workshops and pitch sessions here:

Workshops
These 90-minute workshops will be limited to small groups of 6-8 translators, and they are designed to help you develop your translation skills by providing feedback on a section of your work. These workshops will be led by award-winning translators Susan Bernofsky, Daniel Borzutzky, Jen Calleja, Heather Cleary, Jennifer Croft, Edward Gauvin, William Gregory, Danny Hahn, Kate Hedeen, Bill Johnston, Antonia Lloyd-Jones, Achy Obejas, Katrine Øgaard Jensen, Julia Sanches, Deborah Smith, and Jeremy Tiang. Once you’ve signed up for the workshop of your choice, you’ll share a brief text in your translation with your workshop leader and the other participants.

Pitch Sessions
Pitch sessions are 5-minute meetings with editors of translation presses and journals, where you can pitch a book (for presses) or short translation (for journals) for consideration for publication. Participating presses and journals are Amazon Crossing, And Other Stories, Archipelago Books, co•im•press, The Common, Deep Vellum, Downstate Legacies Undiscovered Americas series, The Feminist Press, Graywolf Press, New Directions, New Vessel Press, Notre Dame Review,  Open Letter Books, Spoon River Poetry Review, Tilted Axis Press, Transit Books, Two Lines Press, Ugly Duckling Presse, Unnamed Press, Veliz Books, Words Without Borders, and World Editions.

If you want to sign up for workshops and pitch sessions, be sure to register at the $125 or $200 level by August 31. If you are in a position to be able to register for the conference at the $200 level by Monday, August 24, we hope you’ll consider doing so: the more registrations we have for $200 by next Monday, the more comped registrations we’ll be able to offer people who might not otherwise be able to attend, and enjoy more sessions like this one. Your generosity will make a real difference this fall!

And to the extent that you are able, please give to ensure that ALTA can continue its work.

We look forward to seeing, workshopping, and pitching with you at ALTA43 starting September 30!
