The UW Dept. of Middle Eastern Languages & Cultures (MELC), in collaboration with the Mo Habib Memorial Foundation and Deep Vellum Publishing, enthusiastically calls for submissions of one or more collections of Persian poetry (50-250 texts, translated into English) through March 1, 2024. The winning translation will receive a $10,000 cash prize and publication with Deep Vellum!

The Sheikh Zayed Book Award, one of the Arab world’s most prestigious literary prizes, is now open for submissions for its 18th edition!

Authors, translators, researchers, publishers and universities can submit or nominate works in ten different categories, including Translation to or from Arabic, and a new category for Manuscripts!

Winners are awarded a career-changing cash prize, and funding is available for international publishers to translate winning and shortlisted titles for Literature and Children’s Literature categories.

Calling Massachusetts translators! There is a NEW category for translated books for the 23rd Mass Book Awards, which recognize compelling works of Massachusetts. It is free to enter, and translators must be a current resident of Massachusetts (adult and younger reader audiences welcome) and published anywhere in the year 2022.
