Main Hotel Information 

The 2018 ALTA Conference will be held at Indiana University in the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU). The IMU operates as a hotel, conference center and a student union, and is located in the center of campus. Conference registration, all sessions and many of the 2018 ALTA Annual Conference meal and social functions will be centered at the IMU or in close proximity to the IMU. ALTA has secured a block of rooms for our attendees. For your convenience, we encourage you to book your hotel reservations at the IMU.

We encourage you to make your reservations early as accommodations at the IMU may be limited. The ALTA Conference block of hotel rooms will be released to the general public on September 30, 2018.

Rates

Hotel room rates vary based on type of room (single, double) and weekday (Sunday – Thursday) or weekend (Friday & Saturday). The room rates range from $134–$189/night plus 12% tax. Room rates are as follows:

  • Single Queen: $134 (weekday) / $149 (weekend)
  • Single King $174 (weekday) / $189 (weekend)
  • Double Queen $174 (weekday) / $189 (weekend)
Internet Access

Free, wireless internet access is available throughout the IMU.

Parking

Free parking is available to all guests who stay at the Indiana Memorial Union.

  • IMU pay lot #1 is located along the east side of the building, just south of Seventh Street. The entrance is at the intersection of Seventh Street and Forrest Avenue.
  • IMU pay lot #2 is located on the north side of the building, directly across Seventh Street. The entrance is on Eighth Street between Woodlawn Avenue and Forrest Avenue.

Commuters or participants who elect to stay at a hotel other than the IMU may park in either of the IMU pay lots adjacent to the building for a fee. Discount parking passes will be available at the registration desk for 2018 ALTA participants.

Alternate Hotel Information

There is a block of rooms reserved at the Hyatt Place to serve as overflow for the host hotel. The Hyatt Place is located in downtown Bloomington and is a 16 minute walk to the Indiana Memorial Union, where conference registration, sessions and many of the meal and social functions will take place.

Air Travel

Most attendees of ALTA will elect to fly to the Indianapolis International Airport. Direct international flights maintain substantial connecting service from all major international hub airports within the United States.

From the Airport to Bloomington

Most conference attendees will choose to travel the approximately 60 minutes from the airport to Bloomington via Shuttle Service. It is best to book tickets online in advance. Their departure location is easy to find outside the airport Baggage Claim on the lower level. IND is a small airport, with everything easy to locate and well-marked.

We suggest that you consult Google maps for the best directions to Bloomington and return. Driving to and from the airport to campus is simple and direct. Driving time from the airport to campus is approximately 60 minutes.

Driving from the Indianapolis airport to Indiana Memorial Union:

When departing the airport, follow the signs to exit onto Ameriplex Parkway
Follow Ameriplex Parkway to IN-67 South/Kentucky Ave.
Turn Right onto IN-67 South/Kentucky Ave.
Follow IN-67 South to IN-39S
Turn left onto IN-39S
Follow IN-39S through Martinsville to IN-37S
Merge onto IN-37S to Bloomington
Exit RIGHT off Hwy 37 at “College & Walnut” (you will emerge on to College Ave.)
Continue on College Avenue to 7th Street
Turn LEFT on 7th Street
Continue about 7 blocks
Turn RIGHT into the circle drive in front of the Indiana Memorial Union (parking is available in one of two lots adjacent to the IMU)
