The American Literary Translators Association is a proud literary partner with the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP)! As part of our literary partnership, ALTA is invited to submit 5 translation-related session proposals to the AWP conference. We want to hear from ALTA members who would like to submit a proposal for an ALTA-sponsored panel for AWP20!

This summer, don’t miss your chance to study literary translation at the Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference, now in its fifth year, in beautiful Vermont! You’ll have the opportunity to meet editors from great publications like Coffee House Press, New Directions, and Ugly Duckling Presse. Have you considered a summer literary translation residency in the beautiful Canadian Rockies? The Banff International Literary Translation Centre (BILTC) offers student, emerging, and professional literary translators a period of uninterrupted work on a current project. Participants will work in a trilingual environment with consulting translators and peers, resulting in a mutually beneficial learning experience. The American Literary Translators Association is delighted to open up panel, workshop, and roundtable submissions for ALTA42: Sight and Sound! ALTA42 will take place this year from November 7-10 in Rochester, NY. The conference description and call for papers is as follows:

If you’re looking to be a part of a group of fun- and translation-loving peers, you’ve found your place. You’ll learn to manage the responsibility of bringing translation news and enthusiasm to the many members and community of ALTA and what makes social media in the translation world tick. Responsibilities will include managing, contributing to, and furthering the various social media platforms that ALTA implements every day to make this world a better, more translation-friendly place.
