Membership
ALTA is a nonprofit arts membership association that provides resources and professional affiliation to its members: individual translators, academic institutions, presses, and others working in literary translation. Established in 1978, it remains the only organization of its kind devoted exclusively to literary translation.
Membership with ALTA provides access to our community, including networking opportunities, and access to members-only discussion groups and resource databases. Wherever you are in the world, you can access our online offerings and participate in engaging, exciting conversations about literature and translation.

Translator Members receive all of the following benefits for $125/year.

Organizational Memberships are offered in a tiered Fee structure based on
operating budgets:
Tier 1 (<$50,000): $200/year
Tier 2 ($50,000-$500,000): $250/year
Tier 3 (>$500,000): $375/year

- Free Friend Memberships for individuals within the organization: two for Tiers 1 & 2; three for Tier 3. Benefits include 30% off of conference registration
- A 20% discount on unlimited social media posts via ALTA’s channels
- The opportunity to have one free feature in ALTA’s newsletter per year (First-come, first-served)
- A 20% discount on promotional level sponsorships and advertisements in the conference program book
Resources
- A listing in the open-access version of the Publishers Database (Publishers only)
- Exclusive invitations to participate in the ALTA Conference Bookfair (Tables are first-come, first-served)
- Access to an organizational-member-exclusive subgroup of ALTAlk, ALTA’s members-only listserv

Individuals can join as Friend Members for $75/year to receive all of the following benefits. Designed for enthusiasts as well as editors and publishers, these memberships are also offered as part of ALTA’s Organizational Membership package.
