co•im•press does not accept unsolicited print manuscripts for original works in English, but translations are always welcome. Manuscripts of book-length works in translation may be submitted via Submittable. The response time may take up to 24 months.
We are currently open for submissions to our Translation Poetics Chapbook Series. In this series, we publish various hybrids of poetry/commentary/translation, ranging from experimental translations and translation-experiments to translingual/multilingual writing and more. For this series, we welcome poetry from any language, into any English. Please have any required reprint permissions secured before you send us your manuscript.
These chapbooks are letterpress-printed in small, fine, hand-bound editions. Given the constraints of that format, we can’t consider manuscripts longer than 30 pages at this time.
There is no submission fee, but we ask that you order one of the chapbooks in this series to support the press and better acquaint yourself before sending us your work. You may purchase our translation poetics anthology Poetry’s Geographies, as well as the chapbooks in this series (Over Sight, Sleepless Nights Under Capitalism, and Prepoems in Post-Spanish), on our website.
Please send your submission, with poet and translator bios, as a single PDF or Word attachment to submissions@eulaliabooks.com. In the body of the email, feel free to include a brief note contextualizing the project.
We will only consider complete submissions; do not send us works-in-progress, please.

How to Submit
For translations, please submit no more than 7 poems, for a total of 15 pages maximum (including the originals). Please include both the original poem and your translation. If you have any trouble using this online system, please email Requires JavaScript.
Once you submit, you’ll receive an email confirming that we received your submission. You can check the status of your submission by logging into your Submittable account.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Please send only one submission at a time per category, and wait until you hear back from us before uploading a new submission.
- Because we strive to give every submission careful review, our response time can be up to eight months. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
- We consider only previously unpublished translations. Translations that have appeared online for any reason, including social media posts, are considered to have been previously published and should not be submitted.
- We welcome translations into English of poems originally composed in all languages.
- Poetry is open to simultaneous submissions, but let us know immediately if work is accepted elsewhere by adding a message to your submission specifying the work that is no longer available.
- All poets will be compensated for published poems. Our current rate is $500 per poem in print and $400/magazine page for prose. For translations, we pay the translator for the translation, and the original author or rights holder for the originals.
- For accepted translations, we will request a one-page translator’s note. We will give you guidance for what to include. Payment will be $250 flat rate.

The aim of SZBA’s translation grant is to contribute to increasing the number of Arabic books that are translated, published and distributed abroad. Funding is available for translation of all literary and children’s titles that have won or have been shortlisted for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award. Applications are accepted all year round. Notification is made after 2-3 months of application date.
We invite book proposals and manuscripts from authors of works—whether scholarly or general interest—appropriate to our award-winning list of publications. Please browse our books and series to learn more about our publishing program. We are currently not seeking memoirs, festschrifts, or creative works outside of our literary series.
Proposal Submission Guidelines
Please submit proposals via email to the appropriate acquiring editor (contact details on our Proposal Guidelines page). The proposal should include a letter of inquiry with the following information:
- Title, subtitle, and authorship
- Overview of the manuscript (subject, scope, organization, voice, and style)
- Significance of the manuscript (contribution to the field, why the book is needed, enduring appeal, timeliness)
- Intended audience and comparable titles
- Information about each author, including a short bio and brief narrative about their research
- Estimated length (word count) and anticipated number of photos and illustrations
- Expected delivery date of completed manuscript
In addition to the letter of inquiry, please send:
- Annotated table of contents
- Introduction and sample chapter (if completed)
- Curriculum vitae or résumé
Zephyr Press does not have a one-size-fits-all protocol for submissions. Many of our manuscripts come from translators, and some from the poets themselves. We also actively seek out writers and translators whose work we are interested in. Nevertheless, we do look at and publish manuscripts that come to us completely unsolicited — after all, we are in this business because we want to read what’s out there.
After you have become familiar with our books, if you think you have a project that fits our list, please feel free to send a proposal and a representative sample of the work. (But please also recognize that it is easy to spot inappropriate submissions from those who have not taken the time to get to know Zephyr. We encourage you to buy our books in the same spirit that you will want others to buy yours if and when you do come to be published.) Send your query to editor@zephyrpress.org.
