Teaching Translation – a one-day conference free and open to the public — will introduce the new low residency MFA in Translation offered at Mills College and explore teaching strategies for the new program. The event will take place November 7 on the Mills College campus in the Lokey Graduate School of Business (GBS) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

White Pine Press and the Cliff Becker Endowment for the Literary Arts announce the fourth annual Cliff Becker Book Prize in Translation, which produces one volume of poetry annually in a bilingual edition.

This special issue investigates the autoreflexive and metafictional dimensions of pseudotranslation (original texts that present themselves as translations for a variety of reasons). Based in an aesthetic of imitation, pseudotranslations imply a critical function towards the (original and translated) literary production of a certain period. The imposture often involves an elaborate paratextual discourse that foregrounds the coded nature of translation and invites a critical interrogation of the expectations and presuppositions underlying that textual practice.
